2026 Mitsubishi Delica Mini Packs 658cc Turbo, 4WD, and a High-Tech Interior in an Adorable Kei Van

Quick Highlights:

  • The 2026 Delica Mini has a new look with a taller stance, updated panels, and body-colored trim.
  • It comes with a 658cc three-cylinder engine with an optional turbo, sending power through a CVT to either FWD or 4WD.
  • Inside, there’s a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital display. Four cameras give a full view around the van.
  • At 3,395 mm long, it’s easy to drive in the city. Seats fold in different ways, and the suspension has been updated for smoother rides, even on uneven streets.

Mitsubishi designed the 2026 Delica Mini for small families and city adventurers who need a compact, practical vehicle that doesn’t skimp on personality. Building on the success of the 2023 model, the new generation arrives in Japan this autumn with a completely redesigned exterior, a modern, tech-focused interior, and improved handling, offering a fresh alternative to popular kei vans like the Honda N-Van and Suzuki Spacia.a

The Delica Mini is remarkably competent, given its diminutive kei van size, and whether negotiating the locales and spaces of daily life or escaping to a short vacation. Wise design elements such as multi-adjustable seats, ingenious storage, and safety innovation make it as practical as it is notable to drive.

Rugged, Pajero-Inspired Exterior

Mitsubishi has clearly refreshed the Delica Mini, but it still keeps that familiar boxy look. The headlights are bigger now, rounded at the corners. They give the front a sharp, alert expression. The grille rises straight up, simple but confident. The hood and fenders have subtle lines that make the van feel taller without being bulky. I noticed the small plate under the bumper—it might seem minor, but it would help over curbs or rough pavement.

On the sides, the solid D-pillar replaces the old wraparound glass. It makes the van look stronger, cleaner. At the rear, the taillights are slimmer. The protective plate is larger. The tailgate trim is painted the same color as the body, keeping it understated. Mitsubishi added two new paints: Sand Beige Pearl and Denim Blue Pearl. Both can be single-color or two-tone with a black roof. Even at 3,395 mm, it feels surprisingly roomy inside. The design isn’t flashy. It’s practical, balanced, and thoughtful.

Interior That Feels Roomy and Practical

Sitting in the Delica Mini, the first thing you notice is how open it feels for such a small van. The instrument cluster and infotainment are housed in a single panel, keeping everything simple and easy to reach. Seats are soft, and the beige trim makes the cabin feel light. They stretch and fold flat, letting you carry passengers, pets, or cargo without fuss.

There are cameras all around, giving a clear view of what’s happening outside, and a small transparent section under the hood helps see obstacles over uneven surfaces (for light off-roading). It’s not a serious off-roader, but it makes such situations easier.

For fun, early buyers get a small plush toy called Delimaru, shaped like the van itself. It’s a small touch, but it gives the car a bit of personality that matches its friendly, practical interior.

Engine, Drivetrain, and Driving Dynamics

Official details about the 2026 Delica Mini are yet to be confirmed, but the current 658cc three-cylinder engine seems likely to carry over. The naturally aspirated variant generates 51 hp (38 kW / 52 PS), whereas the turbo-powered variant generates 63 hp (47 kW / 64 PS). Power is sent through a CVT to either front-wheel drive or full-time 4WD.

There are five modes that drivers can choose among, namely Power, Normal, Eco, Gravel, and Snow, depending on terrain. The van rides on modified suspension with Kayaba Prosmooth shock absorbers, to enhance ride comfort and handling. These factors combined with its compact size, high roofline, and ability to be configured in a multitude of ways make it perfect for navigating urban streets and light off-road duties.

The eK Space Connection

Mitsubishi also revealed the new eK Space, a mechanically related kei van sharing much of the underpinnings, interior, and sheet metal of the Delica Mini. It differs mainly in front-end styling, lower ride height, and absence of rugged cladding or skid plates. The eK Cross Space variant has been discontinued, as the Delica Mini has become the more popular choice.

Pricing and Availability

Sales will start in Japan this autumn. The Delica Mini is priced between ¥1.95 million and ¥2.95 million (around $13,100 to $20,086), depending on trim and drivetrain. The eK Space starts at ¥1.75 million (about $11,800).

It’s small but practical. Its design is bold and comfortable. The seats fold in several ways and the interior feels spacious. It stands out on city streets. It shows that even a small van can leave a big impression.
