2026 Subaru WRX/BRZ Series.Yellow: STI-Tuned, Manual-Only, and Limited to 350 Units

Quick Highlights:

  • Exclusive Series.Yellow Editions limited to just 350 units each for BRZ and WRX.
  • Finished in the iconic Sunrise Yellow paint, a Subaru heritage color.
  • Both cars are based on tS trims with STI-tuned suspension, Brembos, and upgraded wheels.
  • Offered only with six-speed manual transmissions—no automatics in sight.

Subaru isn’t ready to let its performance faithful down. For 2026, the brand is rolling out a rare and radiant special edition of its two halo cars—the BRZ sports coupe and the WRX sport sedan. Dubbed the Series.Yellow, both models pay homage to one of Subaru’s most eye-catching hues: Sunrise Yellow (last seen on the 2015 XV Crosstrek Special Edition and, for Japan only, the BRZ STI Sport and WRX STI S207).

The official reveal happens on September 14 at Boxerfest in York, Pennsylvania—Subaru’s annual celebration of its boxer engine heritage. And yes, production numbers are razor-thin: “just 350 examples” of each model will be built (making these among the rarest modern Subarus you’ll ever see).

STI-Tuned Underpinnings

The Series.Yellow cars aren’t just about loud paint. Both sit on the tS trim, which means Subaru didn’t skimp on the hardware that actually matters.

Take the WRX: it gets electronically adjustable dampers, serious Brembo brakes, and a set of 19-inch (48 cm) matte-black alloys wearing Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires. Inside, a pair of Recaro buckets with yellow stitching breaks up the otherwise dark cabin and gives it just the right amount of drama.

The BRZ’s setup is a little different but no less serious. It rides on STI-tuned Hitachi dampers, has its own Brembo brake package, and rolls on 18-inch (46 cm) matte-black wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. Step inside and the yellow theme continues, stitched across the seats, wheel, shifter—even the parking brake.

Neither car suddenly becomes a full-fat STI, and that’s fine. What Subaru has done is sharpen the edges just enough to make both feel more special than the standard tS—and with numbers this low, exclusivity does the rest.

Pure Boxer Power, Manual Only

There is nothing radical beneath the skin–the Series.Yellow cars retain the same engines fans are already acquainted with.

BRZ Series.Yellow retains its 2.4-litre naturally aspirated flat-four that provides 228 horsepower (170 kW / 231 PS). The power goes to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox just the way purists would prefer it.

The WRX Series.Yellow is a little more aggressive: a 2.4 litre turbocharged flat-four that generates 271 horsepower (202 kW / 275 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. It is only paired with a six-speed manual and, of course, symmetrical all-wheel drive that is a Subaru trademark.

And that’s the whole point. Subaru has not bothered to even pretend to provide a CVT or an automatic here, the cars are all manuals, a loud and resonant declaration of love to the drivers who still cherish shifting gears with their own hands.

More Than Just Paint

Yes, the Sunrise Yellow paint is the star of the show, but it’s more than just an aesthetic exercise. Subaru has carefully tied this color to its heritage, recalling the glory days of WRX rally dominance while setting apart a pair of cars that already cater to enthusiasts. Paired with matte-black accents and yellow-stitched cabins, the Series.Yellow editions look ready for both a canyon run and a Cars & Coffee spotlight.

Limited, Rare, and Collectible

Pricing remains under wraps, but with the 2025 WRX tS starting at $48,875 and the BRZ tS at $39,530, the Series.Yellow editions will likely carry a small premium. And with just 350 units each, these cars will achieve collector status the moment Subaru opens the order books.

Closing Thoughts

Subaru might sell more crossovers and tout safety ratings these days, but the 2026 BRZ and WRX Series.Yellow are proof the brand still remembers what built its cult following. A splash of heritage Sunrise Yellow, a dose of STI chassis know-how, and a promise of manual-only fun make these two cars feel like Subaru’s gift to the faithful.

With just 350 units of each, hesitation isn’t an option. If you want one, you’ll need to move quickly. Think of it as Subaru’s way of saying: yes, fun is still in our DNA—and this time, it’s painted bright yellow.
