What appeals to me most is how the Civic Type R stays close to the road when I’m driving. Using a front-wheel-drive setup may be classic, but the latest generation Type R delivers much better responses to driving around corners and more accurate feedback than before. The 2026 model will add more power, more than 320, and even better suspension than the current model. I wouldn’t be surprised if the chassis and braking are updated because Honda always wants to improve.
You can count on the Toyota GR Corolla if you’re after all-wheel drive. According to unconfirmed reports, Toyota could add further customization to how torque is allocated with its AWD system. As a result, the car will suit demands for driving on city roads, highways, gravel roads, and race tracks just as well. Power will be the same at around 300 horsepower, but we could see a boost in both 0-60 times and throttle reaction if things are tweaked.
Official information is that both hot hatches will feature manual transmissions—good news for gearheads. It’s nice to see car companies sticking with manual models.

Let’s consider the design. Although beauty is not objective, many of you relate to road presence, which I also pay attention to. Interior Features and Technology
Both cars are expected to get updated technology when they launch in 2026. Honda will progress in the gauge cluster display, switch to a bigger touchscreen, and introduce better phone and wireless charging connections. The seats should still be fully bolstered for high driving enthusiasm, and let’s hope the interior stays blended with Honda’s beloved red accents.
We should expect the GR Corolla’s cabin to improve, featuring a bigger central display, wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and nicer materials. Both Cars will likely have standard blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. They work equally well for your regular commute and taking you places on weekends.

Speculative Price and Launch Window
Though I don’t have the actual price, based on earlier data, the 2026 Civic Type R will begin at $45,000 and rise to $50,000 for extra features. According to the company, the Toyota GR Corolla might start at about $42,000, based on the available trim and drivetrain combinations.
The models should be introduced late in 2025 and are due in dealerships early next year. I’ll share more details whenever there is a new teaser, leak, or press release.
